SALARY : According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median hourly wage of models was $15.83 in May 2010. “The lowest 10 percent earned less than $9.53 per hour, and the top 10 percent earned more than $28.86 per hour,” adds the Bureau in its recently published report thus indicating that experience and quality of work decides the wages for the models and it varies a lot depending on the talent.
JOB DESCRIPTION : The models are also seen walking on the ramp showcasing designer clothes created by various textile designers thus making their products popular among a niche market segment. Models need to be patient, have qualities to struggle in a highly competitive market and also require to hire right kind of agents to get business and earn their livelihood.
JOB OUTLOOK : Growth in the occupation as models will be driven primarily by the use of models in print and digital advertisements. ”As the U.S. population becomes increasingly diverse and businesses become more globalized, demand for racially and ethnically diverse models may increase,” the report added thus giving out a clear picture on the profession’s future job outlook.
DEGREES OFFERED : Bachelor’s in film, theatre will be preferred in the profession which is very competitive in nature. But for exceptionally talented candidates, no formal qualification as such is required.
