OVERVIEW : A curriculum and instruction specialist is an advanced career in education. Improvements are made in curriculum through research and development as well as through testing of new methods and technologies.

JOB DESCRIPTION : Curriculum and instruction coordinators oversee the development of school’s curriculum and they arrange for professional development opportunities for teachers. They analyze the effectiveness of both curriculum and teaching methods by assessing student test data. Curriculum and instruction coordinators review and choose textbooks and other educational materials, such as computer programs.

DEGREES OFFERED : Associate’s Degrees   Bachelor’s Degrees   

                                                        Master’s Degrees

Most school districts require instructional coordinators to have at least a master’s degree. In addition, they often require them to be licensed teachers or licensed school administrators.
